Last Wednesday, HS Outreach students prepared and served a delicious Thanksgiving Dinner to over 80 of our friends at the Compass Food Bank. While only a dozen students and staff actually attended the dinner as hosts and servers, countless others in Outreach (including the wonderful parents) and teachers contributed to the meal by preparing everything from turkeys, potatoes, vegetables, salads, and of course delicious deserts.
Compass staff and clients always look forward to these meals, which is a true testament to how much time and care all students and staff take in planning, preparing and serving so many individuals. At the end of the evening everyone was very full, satisfied and very appreciative. Our Outreach “staff” for the event included so many new faces with three new students (not only to Mentor, but to Canada!) and two very eager students from TSS joining us this year.
All Outreach members, both old and new, have shown such great energy and enthusiasm in this new school year, and they will be trading in their aprons now for rakes and brooms as our next adventure will be our annual Fall Clean-up of Armagh House.
