Mentor Grade 1 students have been busy studying about the signs of spring, now that it’s finally here! They have been investigating robins as a sign of spring. With their Mentor buddies, they created a robin’s nest using various materials such as moss, crepe paper and yarn.
As part of their art curriculum, the students are learning about lines and texture. They had lots of fun pretending to be robins building their nests. Did you know that robins lay sky blue eggs? Their bellies only turn red when they are adults. Robins biggest predator is a house cat. Female robins have a darker chest than male robins. Finally, robins make their nests out of mud.
