Grade 7 & The Group of Seven!

277In Grade 7 Mentor art classes, students are studying how the Group of Seven artists used visual metaphors in their artwork – such as the use of a single tree in a painting to evoke loneliness. Each student will be challenged to build his/her visual literacy by using symbols and colours to design landscapes that communicate a mood, feeling or idea.

This is an ideal time to visit the McMichael Canadian Art Collection in Kleinburg to see the Groups of Seven iconic paintings in person and to view the spectacular fall foliage that inspired Tom Thomson and the Group of Seven landscape painters.
