Mr. Carruthers and Ms. Zorec would like to thank the 10 wonderful Outreach volunteers who spent the day December 11 at the Peel Children’s Aid Society helping with their annual Toy Drive. After bringing in the toys collected from the wish tree, students assisted in organizing and displaying the donated toys coming into the warehouse, and most importantly “shopping” with the various social workers and families. Our students’ efforts were matched only by their smiles and coordinators at the Children’s Aid could not say enough about how thoughtful and energetic these volunteers were.
Mentor College Outreach students have historically been invited on the first day of the Toy Room to help set up tables and organize the toys because of our students’ impeccable reputation for being hard working and conscientious. However, this year’s volunteers were able to be more involved in the end process with a greater connection to the kids. By the end of the day, students were tired, but very content and proud of themselves for helping and being involved in such a great cause!
