The Intermediate Division kicked off the first day of school with a Welcome Back Assembly.
Ms. Findlay, Principal, encouraged this year’s students to set challenging and realistic goals for themselves, but also to remember that achieving these goals will not be easy. She asked that they learn from their setbacks and that they accept disappointments graciously and with maturity. Before concluding, Ms. Findlay reminded the students that despite their accomplishments, nothing says more about who they are as people, and who we are as a school, than the way we treat one another.
Ms. Weinkauf, Vice Principal, asked that students put away their electronics from time to time, and to “Look Up!” – they may just discover something new about the world, others or themselves in doing so.
The teachers then informed the audience about life in each grade, giving the students an entertaining snapshot of what to look forward to this year.
The talented Mr. Belluzzo, Ms. Dziuryn and Ms. Narvaez concluded the assembly with an original song about music at Mentor, set to the tune of the pop song, “My Girl”.
