Intermediate Lawyers Witness HS Lawyers Prepare For Trial

This week, the HS mock trial team traveled to Toronto to compete in the Ontario Central West Regional Championship tournament. After 4 tough rounds, Mentor came out on top, defeating Cawthra Park in the championship trial. The tournament win means that Mentor will host the competition next year at our Main Campus. Listen for announcements for student volunteers in the new school year.

The team now prepares to move on to the Elite Eight in Toronto on April 17 and 18, where they will be competing for the Provincial Championship. Good luck Mockers!

The Intermediate Division’s Mock Trial Club had the opportunity to watch the team prepare for the tournament as they practiced as witnesses, lawyers, and the defendant. The trial was professionally executed and our students were amazed by the transformation that takes place when high school students participate in a mock trial.

“The key witness, Zayn Malik, tried to blame the crime on the defendant, Harry Styles, but he also said that they were best friends. Interesting…” said Charlotte Dorey. Justin Pascual added that “the trial gave me a chance to see that things are not always as they seem. There are often two sides to a story.”
