Congratulations to Matthew Anderson! A 4-year member of the Mentor College golf team and OFSAA silver medalist (2017), Matthew has signed a national letter of intent with the University of San Francisco!
Matthew decided on the University of San Francisco after visiting in late August, “I love the city. It’s so beautiful and picturesque … there’s a lot of stuff to do. It’s kind of ideal.” That is not the only reason Matthew is looking forward to attending the NCAA Division I school. The facts that University of San Francisco is ranked so high in golf (56th out of over 300) and that golf can be played year-round are major factors.
The next few months will be very busy for Matt as he continues his training and development. First up are the American Junior Golf Association tournaments in Charlotte, Boston, and Buffalo – with the best high school athletes competing. Then with Team Ontario, Matthew takes part in the team’s first away camp from December 7 -11. The following week, he is in Carslbad, California for the San Diego Men’s Amateur Tournament. Into the new year, Matthew is in Tampa competing in the Christmas Junior Tournament, and then in Orlando, California, and Myrtle Beach later in 2018.
Matthew will be majoring in business and hopes turn pro after graduation, play on mini-tours and Canadian tours, and “eventually working my way up to the PGA.”
Coaches Miller, Porlier and Simpson are super proud of Matthew’s achievements! We wish Matthew continued success!
