On Monday, teams from all three campuses of Mentor/TEAM competed at the PSAA Track & Field Championships! Fortunately, the weather was perfect for being outside!
Intermediate: The Grades 5-8 athletes from Mentor College Intermediate Division were determined to demonstrate why they have been the PSAA overall champions for the past 12 years. This year they did not disappoint, defeating Fern Hill Oakville by over 80 points to capture the title once again. Your coaches would like to congratulate all of the athletes on a job well done.
Primary: A big congratulations goes out to the Primary track and field team – who showed a lot of determination and perseverance at Monday’s track meet. Top three finishes were achieved by Aiden in the 1500m event, 800m run, standing triple long jump, and running long jump. Tyler finished 1st in the 200m and Julia achieved another 1st in standing triple jump. The relay teams did remarkably well with the boys in 1st place and the girls in 4th. Thanks to the coaches and parents for cheering everyone on!
TEAM: Liam qualified in both 100m and 200m, finishing in 2nd place in his heat. Athena and Sophia both qualified for the 100m final, as they finished 1st and 2nd place in their semi-final round. While she was in 1st place for the majority of the race, her hip locked up and she was having a hard time completely the final lap. She pushed through it and managed to finish the race in 5th place overall! Cameron, who also placed 2nd in the qualifying round for 100m, came 2nd place overall in shot put, losing by on a .08th of a second missing out on 1st by just 8 cm! The U13 girls relay team came in 4th place overall to finish the day off, great job! Kristin placed 2nd overall in her category for shot put. Tia finished 2nd overall in both 100m and 200m, as well as 2nd overall in running triple jump! Bobby qualified for the 200m finals as he placed 2nd in his heat.
