The Mentor College Model UN team returned home after an exhausting but fulfilling 4-day trip to Montreal. They competed in the annual Secondary Schools United Nations Symposium (SSUNS), where some students took on the role of countries in heated committee debates on global political, socioeconomic and security issues, while others rewrote history in committees simulating major global wars.
The students had a unique opportunity to network with youth from around the world, and develop life-long friendships. All in all, the conference proved to be an incredible experience for both new and senior team members. Ms. Moosa and Mr. Shapcott are exceptionally proud of team’s dedication and hard work in preparation for the conference, and the professionalism that was demonstrated throughout the trip.
Congratulations to the entire team! Special mention goes to Arjun Ram (Grade 12) who received an Honourable Mention; Sahil Soota (Grade 12), who received a SSUNS Book Award; and Eric Meandro (Grade 12) who won the Nellie McClung Award for Advocacy.
