mentor-college-gender-equality-conference-gecThis year’s second-annual Gender Equality Conference was a huge success! Surpassing the ticket sales from last year, the event continued to grow with over 150 people in attendance. The speakers of the night covered a wide range of perspectives on the issue of gender equality, from the fields of law and business to the worlds of politics, art and the media.

Among the speakers was the former Mayor of Mississauga Hazel McCallion, who spoke about her experience as a prominent woman in politics. In addition, Mentor’s very own media teacher Mr. Brewster gave a humorous and insightful talk on his experience with paternity leave. The event raised $3500 for Women for Women International, a charity that gives women in developing countries the resources they need to earn an income for themselves and gain independence.

From a scrumptious dinner to a variety of titillating speakers, it was a truly unforgettable evening that will surely continue to be a tradition for many years to come!
