High School Athletics

At the High School level, Mentor College is a full member of the Ontario Federation of Secondary Athletic Associations (OFSAA), and competes in the local playdowns to qualify for the provincial championships in basketball, volleyball, soccer and rugby. These teams have qualified for OFSAA on the following years: boys’ basketball (1994, 2003), girls’ basketball (1996), boys’ rugby (1996, 2003, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2009), girls’ volleyball (2006, 2009, 2013), girls’ rugby (2006, 2007, 2008, 2009) and boys’ volleyball (2001, 2002, 2003, 2013).

Individuals have qualified for the following: alpine skiing (1996, 1997, 1998, 2001, 2013, 2017), badminton (2005, 2007, 2009, 2010), cross-country running (2002, 2006, 2008, 2013, 2017), track and field (2002, 2003, 2005, 2007 – 2013), wrestling (2001, 2002, 2004 – 2013), nordic skiing (2008, 2009, 2010), swimming (2001 to 2011, 2013, 2017), tennis (2003 to 2011), and archery (2007 to 2011, 2013, 2017).

Within its region, Mentor competes in the Region of Peel Secondary Schools’ Athletic Association (ROPSSAA) in league play. Mentor competes in archery, basketball, volleyball, cross-country, golf, tennis, badminton, soccer, alpine skiing, rugby, table tennis, swimming, nordic skiing, wrestling, cricket, and track and field at the ROPSSAA level. Our most successful team ever was our 2007 girls’ swimming open relay team who not only won the OFSAA gold medal, but shattered the old record by over 7 seconds! Mentor also offers “tournament teams” in boys and girls hockey.

2016-2017 Marauder Highlights:

While students at public and separate schools have had their seasons disrupted several times over the past few years, Mentor College is proud to have never withdrawn a sports activity or cancelled a season.
