Last week, HS Outreach students prepared and served a delicious Thanksgiving Dinner to over 70 friends at the Compass Food Bank. While only eight students and three staff actually attended the dinner as hosts and servers, countless others in Outreach contributed to the meal by preparing everything from turkeys, potatoes, vegetables, salads, delicious desserts and all the fixings!
Compass staff and clients always look forward to these meals, which is a true testament to how much time and care all students and staff take in planning, preparing and serving so many individuals. At the end of the evening everyone was very full, satisfied and very appreciative. Staff for the event included seven new students and some not only to Mentor, but to Canada as well. Yiran Liu, Jessica Yu and Jasmine Zhao are from China and have shown great energy and enthusiasm in Outreach thus far and are truly looking forward to being involved in our next dinner planned for Family Day. Joined with our “veteran” member, Wardah Hammad, her sister, Rania, and new HS students Simran Singh, Emily Crowe, and Gursharan Sohi, experienced their first Outreach outing and truly enjoyed the feeling you get from really helping and connecting with others.
A special thanks goes out to all teachers and parents who contributed to this event and they are reminded to pick-up their containers from Room 117.
